Bricks in the wall to wall-less education
“…all in all, you’re just another brick in the wall!” No one can ever forget how, a few years ago, going to school meant being a tile on a computer screen amidst a bunch of tiles bearing the faces of classmates and friends. Children literally became virtual bricks in virtual walls. Unfortunately, despite the pandemic coming to an end, children still continue to remain as the same bricks in the same virtual walls.
With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world encountered a boom in online education. While virtual modes of education did exist before the global pandemic, they were limited to certain diploma or certification courses. Ever since the pandemic, virtual education has turned into a budding industry of its own. The accessibility and flexibility that online education offers makes it much more convenient for us to not want to send our children to regular schools. The question we need to ask ourselves here is what is the quality of education that our children are receiving?
The absence of a physical classroom and personal contacts with friends and teachers makes a child feel remote and detached. Children struggle with the motivation and discipline required to efficiently manage their time and effectively integrate their coursework. Additionally, the lack of face-to-face interactions prevents them from developing a soul of empathy and limits their understanding of social dynamics. Our children get crammed with information they don’t always know how to process.

Experience the development of empathy within them through in-person interactions with educators and friends. Prevent them from being just another brick in the wall by sending them to wall-less classrooms. Help them learn how to better sustain themselves by learning how to sustain our planet.
